Data protection information
MissionField News does not in any way track readers who visit the site by browsing to https://missionfield.news/ and then following links to articles. In particular, there no cookies, and the webserver has been configured to not record the IP addresses of the readers. (However, some advertising is done on Facebook to make more people aware of this site; those ads lead to a landing page which has Facebook’s tracking pixel, as required by Facebook. That landing page is reached only from those Facebook ads.)If you choose to subscribe to the email notifications when new MissionField News articles are published, your email address will thereby be added to the list of email addresses which have been subscribed to receive these notifications; it is not added to any other list. This list of email addresses will not be used for any other purpose. The email message to subscribe@missionfield.news by means of which you have confirmed your subscription will be archived, so that we can if necessary prove that we have not subscribed anyone who did not explicitly request that.
Provided that your email address continues to work, your subscription will remain active as long as you follow one of the links in the notification emails at least every six months (it is for this and no other purpose that those links are personalized to your subscription) or until you explicitly request to be unsubscribed. There is a link that can be used for unsubscribing at the bottom of each notification email.
(The reasons why we make subscriptions inactive if for half a year no links are clicked are to avoid filling up mailboxes where no-one is interested in MissionField News anymore, and to minimize the risk for our mailserver reputation that our emails might be falsely reported as “spam”. When a subscription is inactivated, we will of course send a warning email with a link that can be used to reactivate the subscription.)
